The C1 Advanced (CAE)

According to the Times Higher World Ranking 2015-2016, 99% of the top 11 universities included in this ranking use Cambridge English exams to verify the English language skills of students. The Times Higher list ranks universities worldwide in terms of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The most required proof of language competence is the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE).
The C1 Advanced (CAE) certificate shows that you can:
- communicate effectively at a managerial and professional level
- follow an academic course at university level
- participate with confidence in workplace meetings or academic tutorials and seminars
- express yourself with a high level of fluency

The C1 Advanced (CAE) is the most commonly required proof of language competence and is accepted by thousands of employers, governments, professional bodies, and universities globally.
The Exam Format
Cambridge exams are designed to ensure standardised test conditions for people of all linguistic backgrounds and nationalities and are supported by a dedicated global research programme.
The exam covers all four language skills (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Target: Shows you can deal confidently with different types of text, such as fiction, newspapers and magazines. Tests your use of English with different types of exercise that show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary.

Target: Requires you to be able to produce different pieces of writing, such as letters, reports, reviews, essays and emails.

Target: Requires you to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials, such as interviews, radio broadcasts, presentations, talks and everyday conversations.

Duration: 16 minutes
Target: Tests your ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. You will take the Speaking test with one or two other candidates.
